General Motors Launches Chevrolet Sail U-VA


 GM is offering a first in-class 5 year/150,000kms warranty

The car will be competing directly with Maruti Suzuki's Swift, Hyundai Motor India's i20 and Ford Figo


There are seven colour options to choose from and while the petrol variant has four trims to choose from, the diesel has three







The Car is priced at Rs 4.4 lakh for the base petrol and Rs 5.87 lakh for the diesel, ex-Delhi.


The petrol motor claims to deliver an ARAI rated fuel efficiency of 18.2kmpl while the diesel is pegged at 22.1kmpl. 

General Motors India Private Limited(GMIPL)

GMIPL was formed as a joint venture between  Hindustan Motors and General Motors with 50:50 ownership to produce and sell Opel branded vehicles in 1994

GM bought out the Hindustan Motors interest in 1999

GMIPL continued to produce Opel cars at the Halol facility until 2003, when it started production of Chevrolet vehicles thereon.

GMIPL began construction of a second vehicle assembly plant in Talagaon in 2006, which began production of Chevrolet vehicles in September 2008.

General Motors announced that it would put its India operation into a 50-50 venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation of China(which is the partner of GM's main venture in China)in 2009

GMIPL has manufacturing plants in Halol,Gujarat and Takegaon Dabhade,Maharashtra with a combined Production Capacity of 385,000 vehicles annually
