Cambodia former king Norodom Sihanouk dies(Oct 31,1922 – Oct 15, 2012)


Norodom Sihanouk(89) the former Cambodian king died at a hospital in the Chinese capital, Beijing, after having a heart attack. He had been in poor health for several years.
Norodom Sihanouk came to the throne in 1941 and led Cambodia to independence from France in 1953.
Despite long periods of exile and his abdication in 2004 due to ill health(in favour of his son, King Norodom Sihamoni) he remained an influential figure.
Norodom Sihanouk was the King of Cambodiafrom 1941 to 1955 and again from 1993 until 2004.

Norodom Sihanouk held so many positions since 1941 that the Guinness Book of World Record identifies him as the politician who has served the world's greatest variety of political offices. These included -

1)two terms as King of Cambodia -1941 to 1955 and again from 1993 until 2004
2)twice as Sovereign Prince
3)once as President of Cambodia
4)twice as Prime Minister of Cambodia
