2012 Quarter I Profits of IT Majors - April -June ,2012

TCS despite a challenging environment gave an all-round growth in the first quarter,TCS net profit during April-June rose 38% year on year and 12% sequentially at Rs3,280.5 crore. Revenues were also up 38% yoy and 12% quarter on quarter (qoq) to Rs14,869 crore, backed by a strong volume growth. Analysts had estimated net profit at Rs3,250 crore and revenues at Rs14,806 crore.




Amid slowdown in the US and Europe, TCS added 29 new clients in the quarter, including a $100 million contract with a leading North American retailer, a multi-million dollar managed services contract by a North American communications solutions provider and a multi-year contract from an Australian financial institution.
The company also reported balanced growth across IT and other service lines led by BPO, enterprise solutions and infrastructure services. Besides major markets like the UK, the US and Europe, TCS also saw increased traction from emerging growth market -- Latin America.

The company added 13,831 employees in the quarter and attrition rate stood at 12%.


Infosys



Infosys reported a 32.92 per cent jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,289 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2012.(Rs 1722 Crore in 2011-12).Infosys revenues up 28.47 % to Rs.9,616 crore in the first quarter from Rs.7,485 crore in the year-ago period. In dollar terms, the company's revenue stood at $1,752 million against USD 1,671 million in the same quarter last year, up 4.8 %


Though the company exceeded its revenues forecast in rupee terms, it failed to meet dollar revenue guidance of $1,771 million to USD 1,789 million for the quarter.



Wipro
Wipro  reported 18.37 % increase in consolidated net profit at Rs. 1,580.2 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2012.(Rs.1,334.9 crore in 2011-12).The total income from operation during the quarter rose by 24.37 per cent to Rs. 10,619.6 crore from Rs. 8,538.4 crore in the year-ago period.
Wipro’s IT services revenue, which accounted for 78%of the total revenues, grew 30 % year-on-year in rupee terms to Rs. 8,314 crore.
