African National Congress(ANC)




The African National Congress (ANC) is South Africa's governing Africanist political party, supported by its Tripartite Alliance with -
Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) and












the South African Communist Party (SACP)












Since the establishment of Non-Racial Democracy in April 1994,ANC has been the ruling party of Post-Apartheid South Africa on the National Level.

Founded on January 08, 1912 in Bloemfontein  as the ''South African Native National Congress'' (SANNC)  to Increase the Rights of the Black South African Population.
John Langalibalele Dube (1871 - 1946), its 1st President, and Poet and Author Solomon Tshekisho Plaatje (October 09, 1876 – June 19, 1932) are among its founding members

 


The Organization became the ANC in 1923 and formed a Military Wing, the Umkhonto we Sizwe (Spear of the Nation) in 1961

South Africa's ANC Party Celebrates 100 Years on Jan 08,2012 - (Jan 08,1912 - Jan 08,2012)


 




From all over the country, tens of thousands had come to the ANC's birthplace, Bloemfontein. They joined foreign heads of state and dignitaries at the Free State Stadium, the party flag and logo, with the legends "Unity in diversity" and "100 years of selfless struggle", were painted on the pitch. Either side of a central stage stood giant tent stands bearing monochrome photos of each of the ANC's 12 president

ANC Youth Leader Expelled

 

Julius Malema, the firebrand leader of the Youth League of the governing ANC was expelled from the party in a decision announced on Wednesday Feb 29,2012  bringing an abrupt halt to the meteoric rise of one of the most polarizing figures to emerge on the political scene of post-apartheid South Africa.
Julius Malema,who has repeatedly clashed with South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma and other party leaders, had earlier been suspended from the party  for five years for “sowing divisions within the organization and bringing the organization into disrepute,” according to the party.
