Team India's 15 Members Squad announced for South Africa T20 Home Series
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member T20 squad for the upcoming home series against South Africa starting from 15 September on Thursday Aug 29,2019
Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who missed the last limited-overs seen against West Indies will further not be seen in the home series against South Africa as team play three T20s and as many ODI matches
M S Dhoni, who had taken a two-month sabbatical from the sport, is currently vacationing in the United States, having served the Territorial Army for 15 days. It couldn't be ascertained whether the selectors spoke to Dhoni about his availability for the home series against South Africa. Going strictly by the date of the squad selection for the tour of West Indies (July 21), Dhoni's "self-imposed break" officially ends on September 21, a day before the final T20 International against the Proteas
The current selection committee headed by MSK Prasad "wants to look ahead" and sources in the know of things said that the 38-year-old World Cup-winning former skipper is "not in their scheme of things"
Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, who have been a regular face in India’s limited-overs squad have been left out of the T20 squad. Rahul Chahar, on the other hand, has been given an extended run in T20Is and will be seen representing. This remains to be seen if Chahar can cement his place in the shortest format of the game.
India's squad for 3 T20Is against South Africa: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Krunal Pandya, Washington Sundar, Rahul Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, Navdeep Saini.

Italy gets new governing coalition, avoiding new election Wed Aug 28,2019
Italy's anti-establishment Five Star Movement and center-left Democratic
Party reached an agreement Wednesday Aug 28,2019 to form a new government following
the collapse of the country's nationalist-populist coalition.
The deal avoids a new election that could have brought hard-right leader Matteo Salvini to power. Salvini had pushed for new elections, pulling his nationalist League party's support from Five Star's governing coalition.
Five Star and the Democratic Party had been political enemies, but their leaders overcame their differences to strike the deal.
They told President Sergio Mattarella that Giuseppe Conte, who averted a no-confidence vote tabled by Salvini by resigning last week, should return to lead the new government

India’s History at Sabina Park
India have played 12 Test matches at Sabina Park, Kingston and won just 2. They have lost 6 and drawn 4.
Vijay Hazare led India in its maiden Test at the venue in 1953 with Polly Umrigar, Vijay Manjrekar and Pankaj Roy all registering hundreds at the ground. It is only one of the 12 away matches in which three Indian batsmen have scored a hundred.
Dilip Sardesai hammered a double ton in 1971 – his 212 is one of the ten 200-plus scores by an Indian in Away Test matches.
India’s first win at the venue was in 2006 when Rahul Dravid top-scored in each innings – 81 and 68 – and also captaining the side led the country to a 49-run victory in the fourth and final Test of the series. Interestingly, the second-highest score for India in the first innings was by Anil Kumble – 45 and the second innings – 19 by MS Dhoni.
Harbhajan Singh picked 5 wickets in the first innings while Kumble grabbed six in the second.
This was the only result Test of the four-match series. India won a historic series – only their second in the Caribbean (till then) after 1971.
India’s second win in Jamaica came in 2011 (in the first Test), again, courtesy a brilliant 112 by Dravid in India’s second innings. This, again, was the only result-match of the three-Test series. India won its second consecutive series in the Caribbean.

Ben Stokes century leads England to epic Ashes-saving win at Headingley

Just
as he dragged England through the super over against New Zealand,

to level the series at 1-1.

MOM - Ben Stokes(England)for his 135* in the 2nd innings
In the chase of an England record 359 at a delirious Headingley, the home side still needed 73 when Stokes was joined by last man Jack Leach.
Like he did in his innings six weeks ago to the day at Lord's, Stokes launched a stunning solo assault.
He planted off-spinner Nathan Lyon for three sixes and followed that up by hitting Josh Hazlewood for four, six and six in three consecutive balls, during which point he passed 100.
With 17 needed to win, Stokes was dropped by a diving Marcus Harris. From the next over, with only two needed, Leach should have been run out, only for Lyon to fumble the ball and, from the very next delivery, Stokes could have been lbw, but Australia were out of reviews.
In the next over, Leach scrambled a single off Pat Cummins and, with one to win, Stokes hammered through the covers and sank to his knees in exhausted celebration.
It means the series is level with two matches to play, with the fourth Test at Old Trafford beginning on Sep 04,2019

England's remarkable win in numbers
- This is England's highest fourth-innings total to win a Test; the previous highest was 332-7 against Australia at Melbourne in 1928-29.
- It is the 10th highest successful chase in Test history.
- This is the third time a team has been bowled out for under 70 in their first innings and gone on to win the Test - the other two instances also occurred in the Ashes, but in 1882 (Australia 63 all out) and 1887 (England 45 all out).
- Ben Stokes and Jack Leach's stand of 76 is the third-highest 10th wicket partnership in the fourth innings to win a first-class match.
- This is only England's fourth Test victory by one wicket and first since against South Africa at Cape Town in 1923.
- Headingley is the first venue to see four fourth-innings totals over 300 to win a Test.
The Amazon in Brazil is on fire - how bad is it?
Start your day smart with stories
curated specially for you
Thousands of fires are ravaging the Amazon rainforest in Brazil - the most intense blazes for almost a decadecurated specially for you
The northern states of Roraima, Acre, Rondônia and Amazonas have been particularly badly affected.
Huge fires have also been burning across the border in Bolivia, devastating swaths of the country's tropical forest and savannah
Roraima saw a 141% increase, Acre 138%, Rondônia 115% and Amazonas 81%. Mato Grosso do Sul, further south, saw a 114% increase.
Amazonas, the largest state in Brazil, has declared a state of emergency.
However, 2019 is not the worst year in recent history. Brazil experienced more fire activity in the 2000s - with 2005 seeing more than 133,000 fires in the first eight months of the year.
Forest fires are common in the Amazon during the dry season, which runs from July to October. They can be caused by naturally occurring events, such as lightning strikes, but this year most are believed to have been started by farmers and loggers clearing land for crops or grazing.
The recent increase in the number of fires in the Amazon is directly related to intentional deforestation and not the result of an extremely dry season, according to the Amazon Environmental Research Institute (Ipam)
Other countries have also been affected
A number of other countries in the Amazon basin - an area spanning 7.4m sq km (2.9m sq miles) - have also seen a high number of fires this year.
Venezuela has experienced the second-highest number, with more than 26,000 fires, with Bolivia coming in third, with more than 19,000. This is a rise of 92% on last year. Peru, in fifth place, has seen a rise of 105%.

Jasprit Bumrah joins exclusive Test club after his 5/7 Vs West Indies @ Antigua
Jasprit Bumrah registers stunning record, becomes first Asian bowler to achieve historic feat
Five wickets for seven runs and India demolished the hosts for a paltry 100.
Scorecard
India 297 & 343/7 decl (Ajinkya Rahane 102, Hanuma Vihari 93; Roston Chase 4-132) beat West Indies 222 & 100 (Jasprit Bumrah 5-7, Ishant Sharma 3-31) by 318 runs
With this sensational spell, the pacer joined an elite list of performers in Test cricket
In Test cricket history only 11 bowlers have the distinction of claiming a five or more wicket haul in an innings, and giving away 10 or less than 10 runs in the bargain. In this list, four bowlers are from Australia, two are from England, South Africa and West Indies. Bumrah is the sole India in the list.
The other bowlers are: George Lohmann, Gilligan, Bert Ironmonger, Ernie Toshack, May, Lawson, Michael Clarke, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Kemar Roach.
Also Jasprit Bumrah has four 5-wicket hauls and what makes this feat memorable is that all have come in four different tours so far - South Africa, England, Australia, and now the West Indies. He is the first India bowler, and also the first bowler from Asia to take a five-wicket haul in each of those four countries

Presidents of Rwanda and Uganda sign pact to ease tensions Wed Aug 21,2019
Rwandan President Paul Kagame and his Ugandan counterpart, Yoweri Museveni, have signed a pact in Angola on Wed Aug 21,2019 aimed at ending months of tensions that saw the two neighbours accusing each other of espionage, political killings and attacks on trade.
The two leaders were once close allies but have
recently faced off in a series of disputes that many feared could
threaten regional stability and economic integration.
The enmity led to
the closure of an important commercial crossing in February.
According to a statement issued after Wednesday's
signing ceremony in Luanda, the two presidents agreed to respect each
other's sovereignty and that "of the neighbouring countries".
The two leaders also agreed to "protect and respect the rights and freedoms" of people "residing or transiting" through their respective countries and to resume cross-border activities "including movement of persons and goods ... as soon as possible".
How India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were formed
In August 1947, the British decided to end their 200-year long rule in the Indian subcontinent and to divide it into two separate nations, Muslim-majority Pakistan and Hindu-majority India
The process of partition, however, was not simple. In addition to the British-controlled territories, the subcontinent also consisted of many other territories under French, Portuguese or Omani rule, as well as more than 500 sovereign princely states ruled by local monarchs.
Upon independence, the British gave the princely states the option to join India or Pakistan - by signing the Instrument of Accession - or to remain independent. Some of these territories and princely states did not become part of India or Pakistan until recently.
Today, Kashmir remains the only region of British India that has not been integrated into one of the two nations or gained independence.
Partition triggered one of the great calamities of the modern era, perhaps the biggest movement of people - outside war and famine - that the world has ever seen.
No one knows the precise numbers, but about 12 million people became refugees as they sought desperately to move from one newly independent nation to another.
The term partition of India does not cover the secession of Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971, nor the earlier separations of Burma (now Myanmar) and Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) from the administration of British India
The term also does not cover the political integration of Princely States into the two new dominions, nor the disputes of annexation or division arising in the princely states of Hyderabad,Junagadh and Jammu And Kashmir, though violence along religious lines did break out in some princely states at the time of the partition.
It does not cover the incorporation of the enclaves of French India into India during the period 1947–1954, nor the annexation of Goa and other districts of Portuguese India by India in 1961
How were the India-Pakistan partition borders drawn?
In July 1947, about five weeks before the British were scheduled to depart the Indian subcontinent, Sir Cyril Radcliffe, a British lawyer, was commissioned to draw the borders that would divide British India into two countries - Muslim-majority Pakistan and Hindu-majority IndiaThis was Radcliffe's first-ever trip to India. He was asked to base his lines on the population of Muslims and Hindus, in addition to "other factors". These additional factors were never officially defined, but are believed to include economic and communication resources, such as irrigation channels and railway lines.
The Radcliffe Line was officially announced on August 17, 1947, a few days after the independence of India and Pakistan. The newly demarcated borders resulted into one of the biggest human migrations in modern history, with roughly 14 million people displaced. More than one million people were killed.

West Indies fought back late on the first day after two half-century stands had taken India to relative safety following a fiery opening spell that had left India at 25/3 inside eight overs.
Ajinkya Rahane and KL Rahul led the first fightback with a 68-run stand, and Rahane then put on 82 with Hanuma Vihari as India dominated briefly in the middle session.

2019 Ashes England Vs Australia Third Test at Headingley Aug 22-26,2019
Day One Thursday Aug 22,2019
Jofra Archer took six wickets(17.1 -3-45-6) as England dismissed an Australia side
without star batsman Steve Smith for just 179 on the first day of the
third Ashes Test at Headingley on Thursday.
Fast bowler Archer, in only his second Test, took 6-45 in 17.1 overs -- the first time he had taken five or more wickets in an innings at this level.
England, looking to level this series at 1-1, reduced Australia to 25-2 after home captain Joe Root won the toss.
But David Warner (61) and Marnus Labuschagne (74) frustrated England in a third-wicket stand of 111
Archer, however, turned the tide by having Warner caught behind off a 90 mph delivery
It was the start of a collapse that saw Australia lose three wickets for three runs to be 139-5
Travis Head was bowled for a duck by Stuart Broad and Matthew Wade, a century-maker in the first Test, also fell for nought when a rising Archer delivery deflected off the thigh pad via his glove and into the base of the stump, dislodging a bail.
Warner's innings was his first double figure score of a series where he had previously managed just 18 runs in total, while Labuschagne scored his second successive fifty after he made 59 as a concussion substitute for Smith in the drawn second Test at Lord's
Root was hoping to make the most of overcast conditions at his Yorkshire home ground and capitalise on an Australia top order missing Smith, ruled out with a concussion suffered after being hit by a 92 mph bouncer from Archer at Lord's.
Smith's scores of 144, 142 and 92 had been central to putting Ashes-holders Australia ahead as they look to win a Test series away to England for the first time in 18 years.
Warner had previously managed scores of just two, eight, three and five this Ashes -- his first Test campaign since both he and Smith completed 12-month ball-tampering bans.
Warner's fellow top-order left-handers Marcus Harris and Usman Khawaja both fell for eight.
Harris falls to Archer
Harris had been drafted in to open alongside Warner after Cameron Bancroft was dropped following 44 runs in four innings.
But Archer, bowling from around the wicket, squared Harris up with an 87.3 mph ball and had him caught behind by wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.
Moments later, with Australia 12-1 off four overs, rain stopped play.
When play resumed, Khawaja's glance off Broad was caught by Bairstow.
England, however, had to first review New Zealand umpire Chris Gaffaney's original not out decision.
More rain and bad light -- even though the floodlights were on -- halted play in the second session.
The resumption saw an increasingly assured Labuschagne hit two well-struck fours off first-change Chris Woakes.
England carelessly gave away several over-throw boundaries in desperate run-out attempts and when Ben Stokes dropped short, Warner cut him for four to go to 49.
A mistimed four off Stokes through point saw Warner complete a 79-ball fifty -- a landmark greeted with now familiar boos from some fans.
But there were cheers too, with Warner's wife Candice among those at the ground applauding her husband's innings.
Warner was given out caught behind on 61 off Broad but successfully reviewed Gaffaney's decision.
Labuschagne completed a 73-ball fifty as wickets continued to fall.
Archer had James Pattinson well caught by first slip Root and then had Pat Cummins, the third duck of the innings, caught behind, the disbelieving batsman failing with a review.
Labuschagne's gutsy innings ended when he was lbw to Stokes after missing a full toss, with Archer ending the day's play when he had tailender Nathan Lyon lbw.
At close of play on day one, England were6/0 with Jason Roy 05* and Rory burns 01* at the crease
Jofra Archer takes 6-45 as England bowl Australia out for 179
Fast bowler Archer, in only his second Test, took 6-45 in 17.1 overs -- the first time he had taken five or more wickets in an innings at this level.

The INX Media case against Chidambaram, and a timeline of events
The CBI’s case
In its FIR, CBI said that INX Media had approached FIPB on March 13, 2007 for permission to issue 14.98 lakh equity shares and 31.22 lakh convertible non-cumulative redeemable preference shares of Rs 10 a piece to three non-resident investors under the FDI route. These shares represented 46.21% of the issued equity capital of INX Media.
According to the CBI, in its application to FIPB in 2007, the media company also mentioned its intention to “make a down stream financial investment to the extent of 26 per cent of the issued and outstanding equity share capital of INX News Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of INX Media”.
On May 30, 2007, FIPB cleared FDI of Rs 4.62 crore for INX Media. But it rejected the proposal of downstream investment of INX Media in INX News.
The CBI has alleged that INX Media flouted the conditional approval of FIPB, and brought in over Rs 305 crore of FDI in the firm against the approved inflow of Rs 4.62 crore.
CBI sources had said at the time that the foreign entities bought shares of INX at Rs 862.31 a piece, which was 86.2 times more than their face value. The media organisation also made a downstream investment of 26% in its subsidiary, INX News.
Link to Chidambaram
CBI has alleged that on May 26, 2008, when FIPB sought clarification from INX Media after the I-T Department began its investigation, the media firm engaged Karti Chidambaram, the promoter director of Chess Management Service (P) Ltd, to “amicably” resolve the issue by “influencing the public servants of the FIPB unit of Ministry of Finance by virtue of his relationship with the then Finance Minister, P Chidambaram”.CBI has alleged that FIPB, instead of investigating the case, extended undue favours to the media firm by asking INX News to apply for fresh FIPB approval on the downstream investment that it had already received.

Rain has been the biggest worry in the three-match ODI series between India and West Indies, forcing the final contest to be reduced to a 35-over contest. Not that it bothered the Indian cricket team as they were on top of proceedings ever since the dismissal of Chris Gayle, who was at his rampant best, and romped home to win the series 2-0.
Once again Virat Kohli aced the chase with his 43rd century and Shreyas Iyer (65 off 41 balls), who scored his second half century in as many games, provided able company as India outclassed West Indies in the final ODI at Port-of-Spain by 6 wickets (by DLS method) after Ravindra Jadeja had earlier successfully kept the hosts from building on the flying start from the openers.
Gayle came into bat with only one thing in mind – rollback the years and attack the bowlers.
Whether it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami or Khaleel Ahmed (3/68) no Indian pacer was spared with Gayle hammering with remarkable ease. Gayle hit five sixes and eight fours in his 41 ball knock. Yuzvendra Chahal was the only one who commanded some respect from Gayle.
Soon Gayle was caught out in the deep by Kohli, who then led a special send-off for the West Indian icon. Gayle put his helmet on the top of his bat's handle and lifted the bat in the air while walking off.
West Indies were at 158/2 in 22 overs thanks to Gayle’s heroics when rain forced play to stop and at resumption the contest was reduced to 35-overs-a-side.
Once the players returned to the field, Jadeja (1/26) and Mohammad Shami (2/50) applied the brakes on the hosts.
Shai Hope (24) and Shimron Hetmyer (25) resumed the innings but they did not last long, before Nicholas Pooran took Jadeja and Chahal for runs during a whirlwind 16-ball-30.
Shami struck again by sending back Pooran, who chipped a full-length delivery straight to Manish Pandey. Carlos Brathwaite added 16 runs with a six and a four as West Indies finished with 240/7, which was then corrected by Duckworth-Lewis calculations to target of 255 of 35 overs.
India with Rohit Sharma (10) and Shikhar Dhawan at the top of the order began in busy manner, before the stylish right hander was run out in a rather ugly manner. Dhawan, at the other end, struck a run-a-ball 36 which included five crisp boundaries and showed signs of settling in for a big knock.
Jason Holder however brought in Fabian Allen and he immediately removed Dhawan before Rishabh Pant gifted his wicket away a couple of balls later.
Allen had done the trick for his skipper as Shreyas Iyer, who is looking to cement his spot in the team, joined a fuming Kohli.
The duo proceeded to steady the ship before Iyer broke the shackles with three massive sixes in very short time to take the pressure of his captain, who had been dropped by Shai Hope on 11 off Keemo Paul’s delivery.
Kohli seemed to have picked up from where he left off in the second ODI, completed yet another half-century with relative ease, shortly after Iyer, who had already clobbered four sixes, reached the milestone too with a cracking cut through point.
India was keen on staying ahead of the run-rate at all times, and Kohli and Iyer put their foot on the pedal – driving, flicking and cutting away to glory. Iyer however wasn’t around to see it through to the end as Kemar Roach accounted for him.
Kohli, with Kedar Jadhav (19*) in tow, creamed Holder through the covers to reach 99 and then took a single to complete his 43rd ODI century with India well and truly in command.
A few lusty blows and 16 balls later Kohli unbeaten on 114 hit the winning runs as India produced another superb performance to finish off an entertaining encounter.

Shubman Gill becomes the youngest Indian cricketer to score a first-class double century
Shubman Gill has become the youngest batsman to score a first class double hundred.
He broke Gautam Gambhir’s 17 year old record.
At just 19 years and 334 days of age, Gill scored an unbeaten 204. Gbhir had scored a double ton for Board President XI in 2002 at the age of 20 years 124 days.
Gill was representing India A against West Indies A at the Brian Lara stadiom in Trinidad. He was involved in an unbeaten 315 run stand with Hanuma Vihari, who scored 118 runs.
Having been asked to bat first, India A were bowled out for 201 in the first innings with Shubman Gill gone for a golden duck. But Krishnappa Gowtham’s six wicket haul helped India A bowl West Indies A for 194. The Indians once again, found themselves in deep troupe with the scoreboard reading 50 for 4. But the 19 year old Gill, along with Hanuma Vihari made sure that no more wickets fell at least for 315 more runs, when India A declared at 365 for 5, setting West Indies A a target of 373.
Gill’s innings of 204 runs came off just 250 balls with 19 fours and two sixes.
He played the IPL 2019, representing Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), giving good returns. Gill scored 499 runs in 27 IPL matches so far at a strike rate of 132

The Ashes Series Between England and Australia - All You Need To Know
What is the Ashes?
The Ashes is a series involving England and Australia.
The Ashes is a series involving England and Australia.
The two nations meet roughly every two years, with the
winners claiming one of the most famous (and smallest) trophies in
sport, the urn.
The Ashes is held alternately in England and Australia. It
consists of a series of five Test matches, each lasting up to five days.
Why is it called the Ashes?
After
England lost to Australia for the first time on home soil in 1882, the
Sporting Times printed a mock obituary: "In affectionate remembrance of
English cricket, which died at the Oval on 29 August 1882. The body will
be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia."
When England won the next series in Australia in 1882-83,
captain Ivo Bligh was presented with a small terracotta urn containing
what is believed to be the ashes of a burnt cricket bail - although
no-one knows for sure.
The urn, which was donated to Marylebone Cricket Club after Bligh's death in 1927, became the symbol of the Ashes.
Who has won the most?
The 2019 Ashes Series will be the 71st Ashes series. In the previous 70, Australia have won 33, England 32 and there have been five drawn series.
Australia are the current holders after a 4-0 victory at home in 2017-18.
The winning team are awarded a replica of the urn, but the
real one - standing just 11cm high - lives in the Lord's museum.

On Aug 06,1997 Sri Lanka broke the record for the highest single innings score in Test history, amassing 952 against India in Colombo
On this day in 1997, Sri Lanka broke the record for the highest
single innings score in Test history, amassing 952 against India in
Colombo.
Arjuna Ranatunga’s side surpassed the previous best of 903 by England at The Oval in 1938.
The Test series of India’s tour to Sri Lanka in 1997 was dull affair, with both games eventually ending in stalemates. However, the first game is one that is remembered for providing a run-fest, especially by the hosts.
On a docile pitch at the R Premadasa Stadium, India declared at 537 for 8, courtesy of centuries from Navjot Singh Sidhu, skipper Sachin Tendulkar and Mohammad Azharuddin.
On the evening of Day 2, Nilesh Kulkarni had a dream start to his Test career, picking up the wicket of Marvan Atapattu from his very first delivery.
The dream soon turned into a nightmare for the Mumbai spinner, as he ended up wicketless for the next 69 overs. His fellow spinners Rajesh Chauhan and Anil Kumble suffered a similar fate, bowling 150 overs combined which yielded just two wickets.
The misery of the Indian bowlers came courtesy Sanath Jayasuriya and Roshan Mahanama who notched up a triple (340) and double century (225) respectively, with Aravinda de Silva adding 126.
Jayasuriya and Mahanama’s partnership lasted for two full days - the first instance of such an event in Test history. They added 576 in 753 minutes - the longest stand in Test history and only one run shy of the highest in first-class cricket (577 by Vijay Hazare and Gul Mahomed in 1946-47).
Skipper Arjuna Ranatunga and 20-year-old Mahela Jayawardene further added to India’s woes with half-centuries on Day 5
With possibility of a result negligible, play was halted with 13 overs left on the final day
Unsurprisingly, Jayasuriya was awarded the player of the match for his triple century. The southpaw said post the game that he initially wanted to ensure Sri Lanka avoided the follow-on, which he eventually ended up doing on his own!

New income tax refund rules from AY 2019-20: Linking Bank Account with PAN Card is Mandatory
From this assessment year, the income tax department has brought in a new rule without which you will not be able to get any tax refunds.
So far the requirement was only to link your PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar card to file income tax returns (ITR).
But now the I-T department has started issuing income tax refunds only through e-mode.
The new rule means that the earlier practice of sending tax refund cheques through Speed Post has been done away with.
This is also beneficial for ITR filers as sometimes these cheques used to get delayed.
Although the I-T department had been sending e-refunds for the last few years, it is only in the last few months that the practice of issuing cheques has stopped completely.
However, the taxman will credit refund directly to your bank account only under one condition - the Bank A/C should be linked with your PAN
If the linkage is complete, the income tax department has promised to issue tax refund directly into your bank account in a swift and secure manner.
The bank account for getting tax refund can be a savings, current, cash or even an OD account but the PAN linkage is mandatory
Linking your bank account with PAN is not a complicated process. Just ensure that you have shared a copy of your PAN card with your bank branch.
If they have PAN in their records, the two should get linked automatically. In case the linkage doesn't happen, the I-T department has asked taxpayers to contact the bank.
The taxman has also provided a facility to check if the PAN-Bank A/C link is done. You can go to the income tax department's e-filing portal, click on the profile setting section and then go to "Prevalidate Your Bank Account" where you can check whether any of your bank accounts are already validated or not.
If the validation is not done, you can add a new bank account. The "Status" column will tell you whether your bank account is validated or not.
To prevalidate your bank account, you need to give your bank account number, IFSC code, bank name and mobile number that is linked to the account.
The e-filing portal also gives you the option of choosing which bank account you want the tax refund to get credited.
