2018 FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia June 14 - July 15,2018 - Poland's Striker Robert Lewandowski looks to lead Poland by example

Country: Poland
Position: Striker
FIFA World Cup appearances: Debut

It is no secret that most experts classify Poland as a ‘one-man team’ and that is not without reason.

Take for example the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualification campaign - Poland scored 28 goals in their ten group stage matches and 16 of them were scored by their star striker Robert Lewandowski.

The 29-year old has been prolific for the national side and with 53 goals in 94 games, he is already Poland’s top goal-scorer and will also be their biggest hope at the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.

In the last three seasons, any list about the world’s top strikers will be incomplete without Lewandowski. The Bayern Munich striker has scored 40 or more goals in each of his last three club seasons and in 2017-18, he was the top-scorer in the German Bundesliga with 29 goals.

Thus, it comes as no surprise that people are calling him ‘dark horse’ for the Golden Boot and almost everyone expects Poland to reach the Round of 16 with teams like Senegal and Japan in their group.

However, there is a slight chink in Lewandowski’s record and that is his performance in international tournaments. He has already played two European championships, but the striker has found the back of the net once twice.

That will be a point of concern for the Polish fans ahead of the football extravaganza in Russia, but his record in the last few seasons is still enough to give them hope

Lewandowski will lead the Poland attack and will most certainly have a hand in most of the goals his team scores during the tournament.

The 29-year old is an imposing forward who is equally good with his head as well as his feet and Poland will once bank on its star performer to produce a bit of magic.
