On YouTube, the trailer has got over 15 million views and counting.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, starring Bhumi Pednekar opposite Akshay, deals with issues of sanitation and prevalence of open defecation in India, especially in rural areas
Akshay, 49, stars as Keshav, a simple person while Bhumi, 27, plays Jaya, a progressive thinker. Keshav falls in love with Jaya and the duo get married. Later, Jaya is introduced to the 'lota party' (a group of women who defecate in the open), she retaliates and eventually leaves her husband's home. Keshav too supports his wife's cause and tries to change the mindset of his father and other people of his village. Both of them together take up the challenge of building toilets.
