Hardik Pandya breaks Adam Gilchrist’s record, registers fastest fifty in ICC event finals
Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has notched up the fastest fifty in ICC event final during his 76 runs innings off just 43 balls against Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final at the Oval.
Pandya completed his fifty in just 32 balls. He broke former Australian opener Adam Gilchrist’s record, who scored a fifty in 33 balls in the 1999 World Cup final against Pakistan.
However, when Pandya’s fifty has gone in vain, Gilchrist’s 54 off 36 helped Australia to win their second World Cup at the Lord’s
he right-handed player came in at number seven when India were down to 54 for 5. With no hope left, Pandya took the responsibility and started hammering with his willow that eventually went in vain as he was, unfortunately, ran out due to mix up with Ravindra Jadeja.
