Gabor Kiraly has also shone in a dream start for Hungary in their first major finals for 30 years.

Only Gylfi Sigurdsson's penalty for Iceland in Saturday's 1-1 draw has got past him as he shut out highly-fancied Austria in a opening 2-0 win.

"I never said I had old players, I have good players. I still think he's one of the best players in the world," said Hungary coach Bernd Storck

As of 14 June 2016, Gabor Kiraly is the oldest player to represent their country at a UEFA European Championship at 40 years and 75 days of age, beating the previous record of 39 years and 91 days held by Lothar Mathaus

Gabor Király is recognizable for wearing a pair of grey tracksuit bottoms instead of shorts in almost every match he plays since 1996 which he says he chose for comfort after playing on rough surfaces and grey in particular because they bring him good luck
