Widow Of Gardener Who Caught Nathuram Godse Gets Rs. 5 Lakh Wednesday May 11,2016



Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday May 11,2016 handed over a cheque for Rs. 5 lakh to the widow of Raghu Nayak, who had caught Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse in 1948.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik felicitated Mandodari Nayak at the secretariat in Bhubaneswar. She was accompanied by the Kendrapada District Collector and her family members.

Raghu, a native of Jaguliapada in Kendrapada district, grappled with Godse and pinned him down after he shot Mahatma Gandhi at the Birla House in New Delhi on January 30, 1948.

Raghu was working as a gardener at the Birla House then.
