India's
Rahul Dravid and Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene have been appointed to
the cricket committee of the International Cricket Council.
The
world cricket body says the two retired former captains have been
appointed for three years each and will attend their first meeting at
Lord's on May 31 and June01,2016
Rahul Dravid and former Australia offspinner Tim
May have been elected by the current test captains as current player
representatives replacing Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara and India's
Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.
Mahela Jayawardene
replaced former Australia captain Mark Taylor and joins former England
captain Andrew Strauss as a past player representative.
Former
India captain Anil Kumble has a three-year extension as the chairman of
the committee, which makes recommendations on cricket playing issues.
