Uttar Pradesh Government Approves Extension of Dial-100 Service to Entire State

 
After the encouraging response of police control call centre Dial-100 service in select cities, Uttar Pradesh government has approved its extension for the entire state.

"The service will be started across the state and approval for the same has been given by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Ernst and Young has been appointed as the consultant for the project which will be a part of the police emergency response management system (PERMS) call center," an official spokesman said in Lucknow.

The state government has already cleared Rs. 33.55 crore for procurement of eight acres of land from Lucknow Develoment Authority (LDA) for the co-ordination center, to be made in the state capital.

The government had appointed the Public Works Department (PWD) as the nodal agency for the construction of the building which will house the co-ordination center and has already sanctioned Rs. 67.48 crore for the purpose, of which Rs. 26.99 crore has already been released in the current financial year.

The mater coordination centre of Dial-100 will have 300 communication officers to receive distress calls from all over the state and 200 dispatch officers to rush timely police help.

In December 2014, the state government had constituted a high-powered committee led by advisor to the state home department Venkat Changavalli for implemation of Dial-100 across the state.
