Reaching out to the people of flood-affected districts for the first
time through an audio message, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday
Dec 15,2015 promised that she would rebuild their lives and alleviate their
sufferings.
Introducing herself as the “dear sister” of the people, Ms. Jayalalithaa
in the message that went viral on social media websites and mobile
messaging platforms said she was constantly worried about the problems
faced by the residents due to the unprecedented rain.
While Ms. Jayalalithaa had toured certain parts of Chennai including her
R.K. Nagar constituency during the previous spell of rains, post
December 1 she had undertaken only an aerial survey of the
flood-affected regions.
In her audio message, the Chief Minister said that rescue, relief and
rehabilitation efforts had begun on a war footing. Ministers, government
servants, policemen, fire services personnel, armed forces, National
and State disaster response forces and NGOs had worked shoulder to
shoulder with people in rescue and relief operations.
Striking an emotional chord, Ms. Jayalalithaa said she has no personal
life and relatives and the people of the State were everything to her.
“I will bear your burdens. I have been working hard and have dedicated
my entire life for you…. for the sake of the one word “Amma” by which
you call me, to the extent that I have forgotten the name ‘Jayalalithaa’
given by my parents,” she said.
Ms. Jayalalithaa said “the hands of this mother (CM) would wipe out all the sufferings of the people.”
