Frozen sells 3.2 million Blu-ray and DVDs on first day of release
Frozen has sold 3.2 million units of Blu-ray and DVD, even though it is still pulling in viewers in theatres.
Just
days after taking ninth place at the weekend box office, the Disney
juggernaut was snapped up by millions of fans when it went on sale in
Blu-ray and DVD form.
This comes after its February 25,2014 release on
digital HD when it became the fastest-selling digital release of all
time
And it appears as
if fans can't get enough of the Oscar winning movie, which has grossed
more than $396 million domestically and $1.032 billion worldwide.
The Disney movie is a fantasy musical loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen.
The animated flick features Kristen Bell as the voice of Princess Anna and
Idina Menzel as her sister, the Snow Queen Elsa.
It's
been quite the ride for Disney as on the same day Frozen won two
Academy Awards including Best Animated Feature and Original Song [Let It
Go] it passed $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
It
was The Walt Disney Studios' 7th release to reach the $1 billion
mark, joining Marvel's The Avengers and Iron Man 3, Disney's second and
fourth Pirates of the Caribbean films, Disney Pixar's Toy Story 3, and
Disney's Alice in Wonderland.
