The loss ends Williams’ career-best 34-match winning streak and her attempt to win a 6th title at the Wimbledon

Roger Federer(Switzerland) and Serena Williams(USA) were the defending champions in singles events, but neither was able to repeat their success this year.
Roger Federer was Defeated in the second round by Serhiy Stakhovsky and Serena Williams lost in the fourth round to Sabine Lisicki(Germany).
This marked the first time since 1927 in which both defending champions were eliminated before the quarter-finals
