Former IAS officer Radha Krishna Mathur was Thursday Oct 31,2019 sworn-in as the
first Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, which officially became a Union
Territory after the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mathur, who will turn 66 in a month, is a 1977-batch IAS officer from Tripura. He retired as the defence secretary in 2015 and was appointed as the chief information commissioner in December of the same year.
He completed his tenure in November last year after attaining the age of 65 years
Mathur was administered oath by Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice Gita Mittal. The event was attended by officials of the Leh and Kargil hill councils, Army and paramilitary forces, religious leaders and the general public.
