Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passed away at the age of 79 in Mumbai on Monday Dec 04,2017
The Bollywood legend was admitted to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Andheri on Sunday night, reportedly from chest infection.
The actor suffered from the problem even in 2014, post his bypass surgery.
Actor and nephew Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news to indianexpress.com, though he refused to give any further details for now.
Shashi Kapoor is survived by daughter Sanjana Kapoor and his two sons Kunal Kapoor and Karan Kapoor.
Son of Prithviraj Kapoor and brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, Shashi debuted with the 1961 film Dharmputra.
He went on to appear in 116 Hindi films. He was honoured with the the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India in 2011.
In 2015, he was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, making him the third member of the Kapoor clan to receive the honour, after dad Prithviraj Kapoor and brother Raj Kapoor.
Shashi and his wife Jennifer Kendal established the Prithvi Theatre in November 1978 in Mumbai. Jennifer died of cancer in 1984

This fillm was released in 1966. In thie film, Shashi Kapoor played the role of a young man who was caught between the ambitions of his father and his own honesty. The film has lovely songs and a romance between him and Nanda including 'yun rootho na haseena, koi shikwa bhi nahi', among others.
Paap Aur Punya
Released in 1974, this film's backdrop was set in Rajasthan. Shashi Kapoor plays a double role in the film. He was both hero and the villain in the movie. Sharmila Tagore acted opposite him in the film
The Householder
This movie was released in 1960. Shashi Kapoor played the role of a young college lecturer, who was trying to come to terms with an arranged marriage and a new career. Shashi’s acting the film was simply outstanding.

This film was released in 1971. In Sharmilee, Shashi Kapoor played clueless army officer who is in love with a the character played by Rakhee, only to be married off to a twin sister. Among its songs is Aaj Madhosh Hua Jaye Re, which is still popular among today's generation.

Shashi Kapoor and Nanda's jodi was admired and loved by many. His reel pairing with the veteran actress remains the most memorable one. His second film, Char Diwari (1961) also starred Nanda in the lead role. Their films like Jab Jab Phool Khilen (1965), Neend Hamari Khwab Tumhare (1966), Raja Saab (1969) were a blockbuster hit at box office.
