Located in Kerala, Periyar National Park covers 350 sq km right in the middle of serene Periyar Lake. It was declared as a National Park in the year 1982.

The closest airport is Madurai Airport which is 140 km away from the national park, while the nearest railway station Kottayam Railway Station is 114 km away. Periyar National Park can be easily reached by road from major cities including Kottayam (100 km), Madurai (110 km), Kochi (120 km) and Kumily (4 km).
