2017 Bangladesh tour of Sri Lanka, - SL Vs Bangladesh Second Test @ Colombo - Bangladesh beats SL by 4 wickets in the landmark 100th Test Match Sunday March 19,2017

Landmark Bangladesh win in 100th Test

A win on foreign soil against a strong home side was Bangladesh's dream for a long time. They achieved it in their 100th Test by beating Sri Lanka with four wickets to spare at the P Sara Oval in Colombo on Day 5 Sunday March 19,2017

Bangladesh celebrated their 100th Test with only their ninth ever victory - and their first against Sri Lanka - in Colombo.
Opener Tamim Iqbal made 82 and Sabbir Rahman 41 in a third-wicket stand of 109 as the tourists successfully chased a target of 191 on the final day of the second Test
There were plenty of nervy moments though, especially after Shakib Al Hasan was dismissed with 29 still required in the 191-run chase. Then, umpire S Ravi adjudged Mushfiqur Rahim lbw, only to be overturned on review. In the next over, Rangana Herath could not hold on to a rather touch return catch offered by Mosaddek Hossain.

Mosaddek continued to attack, hitting the next ball over cover for four. Two more boundaries took Bangladesh within six runs of their target. But the debutant fell before the win could be achieved.

Eventually it was a Mehedi Hasan sweep that took the team over the line, sparking wild celebrations.

It was Bangladesh's first win over Sri Lanka in Test cricket.

In 2001, Bangladesh first played a Test against Sri Lanka. Sixteen years on, there are a host of milestones to celebrate in the same country

Sri Lanka 339 and 319
Bangladesh 467 and 191/6 (Target 191 Runs)
Match Result - Bangladesh won by 4 wickets
MOM - Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh) for his 49 and 82
Tamim Iqbal's fifty in the second innings was his sixth fifty-plus score in wins. Four of his eight Test centuries have come in a winning cause.
Shakib al Hasan also has six fifty-plus scores in Test wins, including two hundreds, one of which came in the first innings of this Test - 116(159 Balls 4x10)

3 wins for Bangladesh  in 46 away Tests prior to their four-wicket win over Sri Lanka at P Sara Oval. Their previous win away from home was against Zimbabwe at Harare in 2013. Their two other away wins came during their tour of West Indies in 2009

9 wins by Bangladesh in 100 Tests. Their previous win was against England at Mirpur in October 2016. They have won five Tests against Zimbabwe, two against West Indies and one each against England and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh are the fourth team to win their 100th Test after Australia, West Indies and Pakistan

Bangladesh had taken 18 Tests to record their first win over Sri Lanka.

Only two other sides have taken longer to beat a particular opponent for the first time. New Zealand took 48 Tests to beat England, in Wellington in 1977-78.

India took 25 Tests to beat West Indies, at the Queen's Park.,Oval in Port of Spain in 1970-71.
