Steve Smith Completes 5000+ Runs in Test Cricket

Australian skipper Steven Smith has added yet another feather on his already illustrious cap. The 27-year-old has become the third fastest to score 5000 runs in the longest format of the game.

97 innings taken by Steven Smith to complete 5000 Test runs - the joint 7h fastest and third fastest for Australia after Don Bradman (56 innings) and Matthew Hayden (95)

On the first day of the Ranchi Test, Steve Smith eclipsed the likes of Jack Hobbs and Garry Sobers to slam 5000 Test runs in just 57 Test matches.
Steve Smith is now only behind the likes of Sir Don Bradman (36 Tests) and Sunil Gavaskar (52 Tests) in this elite list.
Steve Smith — who currently the number one ranked Test batsman — has also become the youngest Australian to reach this milestone.
Steve Smith, the Australian captain is just the 11th player to score 5000 Test runs within 100 innings, a feat which even the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting failed to achieve
19 Centuries for Steve Smith, the fourth-most by a batsman at completion of 5000 runs (end of the match). Bradman scored the most (21) and Hayden and Gavaskar made 20 each. Sachin Tendulkar and Neil Harvey had made 18 tons

Onya, skipper! @stevesmith49 pushes a single to bring up 5000 Test runs in just his 97th innings.
