'UP-100', world's largest 24/7 emergency service becomes operational from today
A state-wide centralised emergency response system UP-100, was on Saturday Nov 19,2016 launched here by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav with an aim to reduce police response time to 20 minutes in villages and 15 in urban areas.
"Many a times, there are complaints that phone calls are not attended by the police. Now this complaint will be removed with UP-100. Till now it was the victim who had to run to the police but now it will be the other way round," he said after launching the system.
He said the police response time will be reduced to 20 minutes now.
The UP-100 centralised contact centre, set up to provide round-the-clock emergency services relating to public safety, has been established here where emergency calls would be received directly from across the state.
Yadav, who has been at the receiving end of the Opposition parties over the law and order situation, said they will now get an answer through this system which will prove to be an example for other states as well.
The system will become operational in 11 districts from Saturday night while in the entire state by December 15,2016
