There were farcical scenes at the Olympic synchronized diving final tonight Tuesday Aug 09,2016 after the pool turned a murky shade of green.
Looking
more like water from the Amazon than a regular pristine pool water, the
diving continued regardless as the blue color slowly turned a dirty
green.
The five-metre deep diving pool
- which was a normal blue colour during the men's event last night -
appeared to slowly turn greener as the competition went on.
The water at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Center was greener Tuesday during
the women's synchronized diving competition 10-meter platform final than
one day earlier during the men's competition. Venue managers did not
immediately comment on the water
British Bronze medal winner Tom Daley noticed the change, tweeting: 'Ermm... what happened?!'
Rio officials at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Center have so far been unable to provide an explanation.
