'Over 2 Lakh Houses Built Under Central Schemes in 2 Years'

Over two lakh houses have been constructed under 

• Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM)
• Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) and
• Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) 

in various states in the last two years, Lok Sabha was informed on Wednesday Aug 10,2016

"During the last two years, 2,23,814 houses have been constructed under JNNURM, RAY, PMAY-U by implementing agencies," Minister of State for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Rao Inderjit Singh said during the Question Hour.

Housing and urbanization come under the purview of the state governments, he said, adding that central schemes like JNNURM, RAY, PMAY-U are being implemented for providing low-cost houses and related civic amenities to the urban poor including slum dwellers
