Larisa Semyonovna Latynina (DOB Dec 27,1934)is a former SovietGymnast who in three olympic games in Melbourne,Rome and Tokyo between 1956 and 1964  won  18 Olympic Medals - 9 Gold Medals;5 Silver Medals and 4 Bronze Medals(14 individual medals and 4 team medals)

Her total of 18 Olympic medals was a record for 48 years until surpassed by American swimmer Michael Phelps at the 2012 London Summer Olympics

Michael Phelps had won 6 Gold Medals and 2 Bronze Medals in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens ,Greece in the events -
