Google doodle celebrates Rio Olympics 2016 in a fruity way Friday Aug 05,2016

As the world trains its eyes on Rio for the 2016 edition of the Olympic Games, how could  Google not do so.

The Google doodle for today (August 5) marks the beginning of the Olympic season with Google’s own Fruit Games.

The interactive, more-than-a-minute-long Google doodle starts off with strawberry taking an early lead.

According to Google, “For the next couple of weeks, we’ll journey to an otherwise unassuming fruit stand in Rio, where produce from all over the market competes for the title of freshest fruit.” That sounds like so much fun!

This time Google has taken its initiative a step further and added a mobile game ‘Fruit Games’ in the iOS and Android apps.

In the day’s doodle, it starts with pineapple whistling off the start of the games, strawberry dashing away to the lead, but then watermelon’s not to be left behind. Coconut’s pedalling away with all its might that ends with a classic jump and dunk.

Lemon gets swimming, but then, it’s a frozen affair all of a sudden. Pineapple’s back with a smash, orange swings to a great start and blueberry goes flying off… It’s a cornucopia of conquests. And there is a lot more.

The interactive doodle is great fun to watch and for all you know, with Google deciding to present a new one each day, these doodles might be as popular as the Olympic games themselves.

n the app game, there is a whole host of Olympic games to play. From biking, water polo, tennis and more – for all those who loved playing Fruit Ninja and its like, this is going to be a lot of fun.

Let the Fruit Games begin!
