Mahindra has updated their Scorpio line-up with a new mild hybrid version of their largely successful Scorpio, which will help the car to deliver better fuel economy.
The new version Scorpio is equipped with 'Intelli-Hybrid' technology that assists the engine with electric power during acceleration and also comes equipped with engine start-stop feature, which automatically switches the engine off when the car is stationary to save fuel.
The system regenerates using the energy converted while braking, which is otherwise wasted in normal cars.
The new Scorpio is expected to deliver a 7% better fuel efficiency, thanks to the Intelli-Hybrid system which will be available with the 2.2 Litre mHAWK engine.
It will be available across all the trim levels, the company said. While the S4 Intelli-Hybrid will be tagged at Rs 9.74 lakh, the top end S10-4WD manual transmission version is tagged at Rs 14.01 lakh (ex-showroom, Navi Mumbai).
The decision to come out with a Hybrid powertrain by Mahindra comes at a time when the concerns over pollution levels in the country are rising, especially in cities like Delhi, and the auto manufacturers are improving the technology used while designing engines of their upcoming automobiles.
