Congress launches 'Halke Vich Captain' campaign ahead of 2017 Punjab assembly elections

With an aim to reach out to stakeholders in Punjab’s 117 Halkas (Assembly Constituencies), the Congress has launched 'Halke Vich Captain' campaign ahead of elections.

Under the campaign, Captain Amarinder Singh will be visiting all assembly constituencies to know the concerns and issues of the people. Singh has assured that if voted to power, he will set up a task force within 100 days to look into issues raised by the people.

People seeking redressal will be required to fill out their concerns in a form for record-keeping, submitted against a receipt. An IVRS in Singh's voice will be sent within 72 hours of this submission along with an SMS confirmation.

This campaign has been planned by Prashant Kishor's Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), which is strategising the Congress election campaign. The team had also organised a Coffee with Captain event.

Citizens can use the receipt number to check the status of their concerns online. An e-version of filing the same will also be made available.

Singh aims to directly interact with approximately 5000 people from every halka, thereby reaching out to an overall 6 lakh people directly over the course of this program.

Through the campaign, the Congress would seek to engage the people as active participants in setting the agenda for the government.
