Taylor Swift will the first recipient of a new gong named after her at the BMI Pop Awards in May 2016
The
Taylor Swift Award marks only the second time in the BMI’s 76-year
history that it has presented an award in somebody’s name - the first
being to the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, in 1990.
Taking
place in Beverly Hills on May, 10, the 64th ceremony will celebrate
Swift’s creative talent and her global influence on her millions of
music fans.
Taylor
Swift already has a long list of illustrious accomplishments including 10
Grammy awards and is the youngest recipient in history to receive the
music industry’s highest honour - the Grammy for Album of the Year.
Taylor Swift is also the only female artist to have won it twice and has seven BMI
Awards including multiple Song of the Year gongs spanning both the pop
and country genres
