American Idol crowns its final winner after 15 seasons Thursday April 07,2016

American Idol said goodbye after 15 seasons Thursday night April 07,2016, crowning its final winner in a farewell episode that brought back just a few of the countless stars the program has produced over the years. 

All of the past winners if the show made appearances including a very pregnant Kelly Clarkson, who performed some of her greatest hits in a taped performance. 

Also making a surprise appearance were the show's original judges, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell. 

And in the end, Trent Harmon broke down in tears as he was named the last ever winner of American Idol.
