Actor Vikram released a song conceived by him and sung
by 22 singers on Thursday December 31,2015 online on Youtube.
The song, which has the lines “Yen Chennai Oooralla, yendhan Urchagam… Yen Chennai idhu peralla, yendhan Kondattam’ has been composed by Girinandh and has lyrics by Madhan Karky, Gaana Bala and Rokesh.
The song, which was released by Sony Music Entertainment on Youtube, has a montage of visuals and photographs taken during the floods.
The song, which is a slow melody with a few verses in the ‘gaana’ style, has been sung by S.P. Balasubramanian, Shankar Mahadevan, Aruna Sairam, Hariharan, Karthik and Vijaya Prakash as well as Actors Vikram, Siddharth and Radhakrishnan Parthepan among others.
At the end of the song, a few lines in Tamil state that among all the personal possessions and things that were washed away in the floods were caste and class as people came together across barriers to help each other
