2016 India Tour of Australia January 12-31,2016

India and Australia are set to clash in an ODI and Twenty20 International series beginning on January 12. The series comprises of five ODIs and 3 Twenty20s. The last time the two teams met on field was for the 2015 World Cup semifinals.

In the 2011 World Cup quarterfinals, on March 24, 2011, India won the match by five wickets at Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad with Yuvraj Singh being named man-of-the-match. India went on to win the World Cup.

In 2015 World Cup, on March 26, 2015 at the SCG, India lost the semifinal game by 95 runs. Steve Smith was named the man-of-the-match for his scintillating 105. Australia lifted its fifth World Cup title

Rohit Sharma continued his affinity for Australian bowling attacks ODIs - he now averages over 70 against them in 19 innings - with a well-compiled century in the series opener at the WACA in Perth on Tuesday.
His effort surpassed the previous best individual score by an Indian at the venue, the 77 scored in 2012 by Virat Kohli who was his partner in a stand of 207 that formed the platform for a total of 309/3 against a bowling attack that featured two debutants - Scott Boland and Joel Paris
James Faulkner in his first international game since he was Man of the Match in the World Cup final last year, and just Glenn Maxwell as the spinning option.

Rohit Sharma's brilliant ton went in vain, as Australia reached the target of 310 with four balls to spare in Perth on Tuesday. 

Steven Smith and George Bailey produced a brilliant 242-run stand for the third wicket to help hosts take 1-0 lead in five ODI series.

Barinder Sran, who made his India debut, was impressive with the new ball as he dismissed openers David Warner and Aaron Finch to give India the early breakthrough. However, from there on in, 

George Bailey (112) and skipper Steven Smith (149) shared a match-winning 242-run stand to help the hosts take a 1-0 lead in the five match ODI series
