Australia XI

David Warner, Aaron Finch, Steve Smith (c), George Bailey, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, Mathew Wade (wk), James Faulkner, Joel Paris, Scott Boland, Josh Hazlewood

India have yet to name their playing XI, but uncapped paceman Barinder Sran looks set to make his international debut following the series-ending injury to Mohammed Shami.

When India meet Australia in a five-match ODI series, which opens in Perth on Tuesday, cricket fans across the globe will witness an enthralling battle between two vastly different sides.

India head into the series on a high, having thrashed South Africa at home in the recently-played Test series.

Rohit Sharma's average against Australia in ODIs, his best against any Test-playing team. He has scored three centuries against them: 209, 141* and 138. Sri Lanka are the only other team against whom he has made two centuries in ODIs

165 Runs required by Virat Kohli to complete 7000 ODI runs. If he gets there in this five-match series, he will become the quickest to the landmark beating Ab de Villiers who did it in 166 innings. Kohli has 6831 runs in 158 innings.

On the other hand, the formidable Aussies are also on a high after consecutive success against New Zealand and West Indies

Australia had 14 consecutive ODI's without defeat at home since November 2014 and Australia's last defeat was to South Africa at the @ WACA on November 16, 2014

135Runs needed by Aaron Finch in two innings to become the joint-fastest Australia batsman to 2000 ODI runs. He has 1865 runs in 50 innings. Currently, the fastest Australia batsman to 2000 ODI runs is David Boon, who took 52 innings to reach the mark. Finch averages 45.87 against India in eight innings with four half-centuries and a best of 96.

However, both the teams have their injury concerns to cope up with besides overcoming the accompanying mental battle.

Statistics, conditions and home advantage all favour Australia but no one is taking Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men lightly
