Both girls who are dynamic activists and have delivered eloquent speeches at the UN conversed about the documentary, ‘He Named Me Malala’, based on the Pakistani activist’s life, feminism and their shared love for the colour pink.
Emma Watson, who declared Malala her hero, later posted the entire interview on her Facebook page with a heartwarming message, stating
her strong belief in Malala and all that she is trying to accomplish through her organisation, The Malala Fund.
Emma Watson opened the interview with praises for the film, saying, “The best part of the film for me was that you got see what obviously made you so extraordinary but more importantly ordinary, which shows that anyone can encourage change and I thought that was a wonderful message from the film.”
Malala on her part declared her simplest wish, “I want to see every child get quality education. And in order to make sure that dream
comes true, we have to work hard and take action. Through the Malala Fund, we are working each and every day.”
‘The Bling Ring’ actress went on to voice her admiration for the pink colour that Malala wears, saying it’s her absolute favourite and asked her if the colour was symbolic of good luck. “I have always liked pink colour and when I was going to the UN speech, I wore pink that day, I don’t know why. And, now the film is orange and pink too,” replied Malala.
Emma wrapped up the interview expressing her gratitude to Malala, “Thank you again! The film is so wonderful and your story is ‘beyond inspiring’.
Yousafzai also thanked the Hollywood actress and encouraged her to convey a message to the children who are watching their interview, especially to ‘the boys in audience’.
