Chennai
district collector E Sundaravalli on Wednesday Nov 18,2015announced that schools
and colleges in district would remain closed till November 22. They will
reopen on November 23 (Monday).
Most educational institutions in Chennai and a few other districts, including Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur, have remained closed for almost two weeks due to Diwali and heavy rain.
Heavy rain inundated several parts of the city and suburbs. Though rain stopped, the city's major waterways, including the Adyar river, the Cooum river and and Buckingham canal, are overflowing, leading to mass evacuation from the banks. Several low-lying areas remain flooded.
