Temperatures soar to 45.8C in Delhi Thursday June 05,2014

The sweltering heat threw life out of gear in Delhi, forcing most people to remain indoors and those outside to seek shade under umbrellas and scarves.
High humidity, ranging between 22 and 63 %, made it all the worse for Delhiites.
No relief is expected for Delhiites for at least the next six days, with the temperature expected to hover around 43°C.
But it's hardly just Delhi that's suffering.

From Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh to Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, almost all of North India and several other regions are in the grips of an intense heat wave.
The temperature in Bikaner, Rajasthan, soared to a scalding 47.4°C on Thursday June 05,2014

There is some good news with the monsoon expected to hit Indian shores by Friday June 06,2014

Conditions are also favourable for the advance of the monsoon into some parts of north-eastern states over the next 48 hours (from Thursday), the Met office said.
Isolated heavy rainfall was predicted for Friday over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Kerala.
