In his last public address as the chief minister of Gujarat, Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi on Tuesday May 20,2014 praised his trusted lieutenant Amit Shah for the BJP's landslide win in the 2014 Lok Sabha election.
Modi
gave full marks to Shah, in-charge of the party's affairs in Uttar
Pradesh, for the BJP wining as many as 71 out of the 80 seats in the
state. He noted this tally was higher than the Congress' total number of
seats from as many as 30 states that it had fought on in the general
election.
After he was elected the BJP parliamentary party leader earlier in the
day, Modi and Shah landed in Ahmedabad to a rousing welcome in the
evening.
On
Wednesday, Modi and Shah will attend a day-long assembly session in
Gandhinagar where the next Gujarat chief minister is likely to be
announced.
Modi's speech in his Assembly constituency Maninagar had some emotional connect with the local people.
"I am
going out of Gujarat for bigger responsibilities, but I will always
remain a basic party worker from Gujarat as my primary membership in the
party is registered from the state''
