Anti Govt Protests in Kiev's Independence Square Wednesday Feb 19,2014

Ukrainian protesters poured on to Kiev's Independence Square on Wednesday, preparing to confront police anew after the bloodiest day since the former Soviet republic

After hours of clashes with around 20,000 protesters, police had gained ground overnight in Independence Square, the centre of three months of protests against President Viktor Yanukovich, and were occupying about a third of the square at 8am on Wednesday Feb 19,2014

The square resembled a battle-zone with black smoke and flames belching from a trade union building, used as an anti-government headquarters as about 20,000 protesters on Kiev's Independence Square fought with police using petrol bombs, fireworks and stones on Tuesday Feb 18,2014 and
with thousands more ready to confront authorities again on Wednesday Feb 19,2014
