2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil Aug 05-21,2016 - Oksana Chusovitina(41) of Uzbekistan is competing in her 7th Olympics

An age-defying gymnast has made history at this year's Olympics by being the oldest woman to ever appear at the Games.

Oksana Chusovitina is competing at her seventh Olympics this year representing Uzbekistan, another record, at the age of 41

The feat is made all the more amazing by the fact that she has a 17-year-old son - the same age of many of the girls she competing against including Team GB star Elissa Downie.

But the incredible athlete has proven she isn't just there to make up the numbers, matching her younger counterparts all the way to qualify for the vault finals.

This is the seventh time that Chusovitina has competed at the Olympics. Her first Olympics were in 1992, representing the Unified Team of former USSR countries

In fact, Chusovitina actually won her first Olympic medal - a team gold in 1992 - almost five years before Team USA star Simone Biles was even born

I really love the sport, I love to give pleasure to the public. I love to come out and perform for the public and for the fans,' said Chusovitina, who has competed under the Soviet Union, Unified Team, German and Uzbek flags during her career
