In a bid to push its latest Windows 10 operating system to enterprise
users and have users make the switch, the software giant has revealed that it would stop supporting older Windows versions on new processors.
Which simply means users would not be able to run Windows 8 or older versions on new processors.
Newer processors from AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm will require the current version of Windows to get enterprise support.
Microsoft has further listed out Skylake-based processors that it will support with Windows 7 and 8.1. However, even that program will last until July 17, 2017. Once the program ends, enterprise users will have to migrate to the newer Windows 10 for further support.
