67-year-old man gets Rs 30,000 compensation from a beauty soap that fails to make him fair

 
Kerala's most popular soap Indulekha, which he endorses, has been forced to pay a compensation of Rs 30,000 to a consumer who went to a Consumer Court alleging that soap is misleading the consumers about its effectiveness.K Chaathu, a 67-year-old person from Mananthavady in Wayanad district of Kerala, has created history by getting Rs 30,000 compensation in an out of court settlement.
He had gone to the Consumers Redressal Court seeking a compensation of Rs 50,000 from the Indulekha soap company for its misleading advertisement endorsed by Mammootty

He had alleged that the advertisement claims that Indulekha soap makes the user of it fair. He said, "Mammooty is a big star. We trust him. Because he says Indulekha soap makes dark people fair, lot of people use it. I used it for a long time. But, nothing has happened. I am still dark. What they say in these advertisements are nothing but white lies."
