2016 Hopman Cup - Nick Kyrgios powers Australia to Hopman Cup title Saturday January 09,2016

Nick Kyrgios continued his impressive run of form ahead of this month’s Australian Open by powering the host nation to the mixed-team Hopman Cup title against Ukraine in Perth on Saturday January 09,2016

Nick Kyrgios and Daria Gavrilova, playing for Australia Green, one of two teams representing the host nation, both won their singles matches in straight sets against Alexandr Dolgopolov and Elina Svitolina respectively.

Nick Kyrgios, who defeated world number two Briton Andy Murray during his four-match winning run this week, brushed aside the challenge from Dolgopolov 6-3 6-4 after the 36th-ranked Gavrilova had opened with a 6-4 7-6(6) win over Svitolina.

Australia’s only previous Hopman Cup title came in 1999 while the last time they reached the final was 13 years ago

The Hopman Cup XXVIII was the 28th edition of the Hopman Cup Tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. It took place at the Perth Arena in Perth,Australia

Eight teams competed for the title, with two round robin groups of four, from which the top team of each group advanced to the final.
For the first time, there were two Australian teams, Australia Gold and Australia Green

6)Great Britain represented by Heather Watson and Andy Murray
7)Ukraine represented by Elina Svitolina and Alexandr Dologopolov
8)USA represented by Serena Williams and Jack Sock

The 2015 championsPoland did not return to defend their title
