Ending the fortnight-long deadlock, the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday Dec 23,2013 staked claim to form the government in Delhi with outside support from Congress
On Monday Dec 23,2013 AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and and handed over him a letter staking claim to form government.
The date and timing of the swearing-in ceremony would be decided once
President Pranab Mukherjee gives his decision, Mr. Jung told Mr.
Kejriwal when he met him.
The Lt Governor told Mr. Kejriwal that he would send the proposal of government making to the President for his decision.
Arvind Kejriwal(45)who was the party’s face in the elections, will be the new Chief Minister who will be sworn-in at a public event in the Ramlila Maidan, the venue of Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement for a Janlokpal Bill.

On November 24, 2012, Kejriwal named his political party as the Aam Aadmi Party
On December 4, 2013, Delhi went to elections.
On December 8, 2013, Kejriwal's AAP made a stunning debut emerged as the second largest party after the BJP in the Delhi elections.
On December 12, the BJP met Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and refused to form the government saying it did not have the numbers.
On December 13, the Congress, that won 8 seats in the Delhi election, submitted a letter of unconditional support for AAP to the Lt Governor.
On December 14, the AAP laid down 18 conditions for the Congress and the BJP for working with it. Kejriwal also sought 10 days' time from the Lt Governor to decide on whether he will form the government in Delhi.
On December 18, the AAP announced a public referendum to decide whether it should form government in Delhi with Congress's support.
On December 21, Congress said that the support to the AAP is not unconditional but 'issue-based'.
On December 22, the AAP decided to form the government in Delhi and staked claim.
AAP’s five top promises are -
1)will end VIP culture in Delhi.No AAP minister will ride in a lal batti car, or stay in the traditional bungalows allotted to ministers
2) to reduce water and electricity bills
3)to provide 700 litres of free water to every household in Delhi
4) promised "swaraj" or self-rule
5)to bring in a strong law for a Lokpal or an anti-corruption ombudsman within 15 days
