A bomb blast ripped a trolleybus apart in Volgograd on Monday Dec 30,2013 killing at least 10 people in the second deadly attack in the southern city in two days and raising fears of further violence as Russia prepares to host the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in Feb 2014
The morning rush-hour bombing, which left mangled bodies in the street, underscored Russia's vulnerability to militant attacks less than six weeks before the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi(about 430 miles southwest of Volgograd)
State TV footage showed the twisted, gutted remains of the blue-and-white trolleybus, its roof blown off and debris strewn around the street.
Federal investigators said the blast was believed to have been a "terrorist act".An explosion equal in strength to 4 kilograms of TNT took place in the attack, according to the investigative committee
The death toll rises to 14 people. 27 are now hospitalized, two of whom are in critical condition.
