Israel Parliament Passes Controversial Law Requiring NGOs to Reveal Foreign Funding Monday July 11,2016

Israel’s parliament adopted a law late Monday July 11,2016 that critics say disproportionately targets human rights and leftist groups campaigning for Palestinian rights. Supporters say it's a blow against foreign interference in Israeli affairs.

The law requires organisations to state that they rely on foreign funding in all communication with public officials and on TV, newspapers, billboards and online.

Representatives of these groups must also declare they depend on foreign contributions to the heads of parliamentary committees when participating in meetings.

Failure to comply will result in fines.
