Delhi University announced the fourth cutoff list on Thursday July 14,2016
Of the 34 colleges that offer Economics (hons), 25 are yet to fill up seats. Similarly, seats in Bcom (hons) are available in 38 of the 54 colleges that offer the course. However, for the both the most popular courses in DU, the cutoff remained above the 90% mark.
Economics (hons) is one course where the cutoff is above 90% even at off campus and evening colleges.
In one of the rare occasions, Shri Ram College of Commerce is offering seats in Economics (hons) in the fourth list but only at 97.25%.
For BCom(hons) the highest cutoff remains 97% in Lady Shri Ram College for Women. The lowest cutoff for this subject is at Aditi Mahavidyalaya at 89%.
Across colleges, the dip in cutoff ranges from 0.25-0.5 percentage points. However, at LSR the cutoff for all courses remained above 95%.
The college has opened admission for Sociology (hons) at 96.50%. Hindi (hons) and Sanskrit (hons) are closed in the fourth list.
English (hons) is still available in 44 colleges. The admission for the course has only been closed in four colleges. DU received maximum number of applications for English (hons). The highest cutoff for the subject is at LSR at 96.50%.
Compared to the humanities courses, the dip in the fourth list for science stream is higher. The reduction in cutoff ranges from 0.25-2 percentage points. For instance, at Ramjas College cutoff for BSc (Physical Sciences) has fallen from 91.66% to 90%.
Honours in Zoology, Botany and Chemistry is closed in most colleges. Of the 18 colleges offering Botany (hons), seats are full in 12 colleges.
For Chemistry (hons), of the 21 colleges that offer the course, seats are full in 10 colleges.
This year the university will be releasing only five cutoff lists. After the fifth list, if the colleges have vacant seat they will invite applications and prepare a merit list.
