Belgium have sacked Marc Wilmots after the country's struggles at Euro 2016.
Marc Wilmots
managed to lead Belgium to the quarter-final of the competition in
France but they never seemed to have much fluidity, with their only
impressive showing coming in the 4-0 victory against Hungary.
A
3-1 defeat by Wales in the last eight seems to have been the final
straw for the Belgian Football Association. President Francois De
Keersmaecker insinuated that elimination against Chris Coleman's side
had come too early for Wilmots to continue in his role
The federation's statement added: 'We would like to thank Marc Wilmots for his work during the last four years.
'With Marc Wilmots as a head coach, the Red Devils have climbed from the 54th position to the top of the FIFA world rankings.
'He
managed to win 34 games out of 51, including eight draws. Above all,
the fans have reinstalled their love for the Belgian Red Devils during
this period.'
