2016-17 La Liga - Real Madrid release home and away kits for 2016-17 Season

The champions of Europe have unveiled their new home and away kit for the upcoming season as they look to dominate on the continent once more.

Real Madrid launched their new strips on Thursday morning as Zinedine Zidane's outfit look to become the first side in history to defend the Champions League.

As ever, the white kit is predominately white but unlike last year has some subtle changes.

The most obvious design difference is the reintroduction of the collar that was last used during the 2011-12 campaign. The polo collar, with a button placket, also has 'REAL MADRID' embroidered on the back.

The white kit is offset with a blue trim on the sleeves with the adidas stripes moved from their usual position too. Normally on the sleeves, they are positioned down the side of the body this time.

Describing the design, adidas says: 'Celebrate the storied history of Los Blancos in this men's football jersey that honours the club's 1902 beginnings.

As for their away kit, Real have paid homage to their history with an all-purple ensemble.

The Spanish giants' first kit in 1902 featured purple stripes, and the club's crest had a purple band until it was changed to blue before the 1998-99 season.

And this year's design includes a white, ribbed crewneck collar, while the shorts and socks will also be purple with a white trim on the latter.
