The 2018 IPL season has reached the knockout stages and the defending
champions Mumbai Indians were eliminated from the tournament in the 55th
game of the 56 game league stage. The Mumbai franchise looked to have
turn things around after a dismal start to their season which is a trend
they have developed in recent years.
The season can be considered a failure for the Mumbai Indians who finished fifth on the IPL standings after they lost their final match against the Delhi Daredevils by 11 runs.
If this was a bad season for the team, it was one where captain Rohit Sharma made an unwanted record his own. In the 11 seasons, Rohit has scored in excess of 300 runs every single time, but for this year. Rohit could not manage to cross the 300 mark as his season ended with 286 runs only.
Till Super Sunday began, Rohit and Suresh Raina held the distinction of being the only players to have scored more than 300 in the all previous seasons, but with the Mumbai man having failed to achieve that this year, Raina becomes the only player to have scored more than 300 runs in all the 11 seasons.
