Internationally acclaimed Sand Artist and Padma Awardee, Sudarsan Pattnaik rarely loses an opportunity to highlight the cause of Swachh India through his creations. His latest work of art on Puri beach is pegged to the World Toilet Day, which is being celebrated globally on November 19. The creation urges people to stop defecating in the open and use toilets.

Recently the artist showcased the pollution crisis facing India’s capital through one of his creations. His art had India gate on one side and people with masks on their faces on the other side, all surrounded with smog. Sudarsan Pattnaik, created a sand sculpture which flashes the unfortunate plight of lakhs of people living in the national capital Delhi. With the strong message ‘Our Healthy Life Is In Our Hand, #BeatPollution,’ the artist created the sand art in order to appeal to the people on why they should come together and fight Air Pollution.

Sudarsan Pattnaik’s art work is again a reminder that concerted effort from all sections of the society is needed to combat issues of cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene. The artist is originally from Odisha and is well-known for creating series of intricate sand sculptures highlighting issues that are of national importance. Some of his recent artwork includes messages of ‘Say No To Open Defecation’, ‘Stop Littering’ and ‘Save Our Oceans’.
