Great Britain's men's 4x400 metres relay team have failed with an appeal after their Olympic medal hopes were crushed following a disqualification after cruising into the final.
The
quartet of Nigel Levine, Delano Williams, Matt Hudson-Smith and Martyn
Rooney came home first in their semi-final in two minutes and 58.88
seconds, establishing themselves to be strong medal contenders.
But
shortly after leaving the track they were disqualified for starting
outside the changeover zone, although it was not immediately clear on
which leg the error occurred.
